LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The Court of Arbitration for Sport has cut German biathlete Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle's doping ban from two years to six months.

A three-man CAS panel ruled on Friday that her positive test at the Sochi Olympics was caused by a contaminated supplement and her degree of fault was "minimal."

Sachebacher-Stehle tested positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine at the Winter Games in February.

She was stripped of her fourth-place finish in biathlon mass start by the International Olympic Committee, and banned for two years by the International Biathlon Union.

Sachebacher-Stehle, who maintained she took the substance inadvertently in a dietary supplement, appealed to CAS to reduce the ban.

CAS ruled that her ban, which began on the date of the test on Feb. 17, expired on Aug. 6.

Sachebacher-Stehle, a former two-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, switched to biathlon in 2012.
