RICHARDSON, Texas (AP) — Police say a worshipper leaving a prayer service at a Dallas-area mosque was slightly hurt after being attacked in the parking lot by two men who fled.

Richardson police Sgt. Kevin Perlich (PER'-lik) said Tuesday that the victim told officers that he did not believe his religion or ethnicity was the motive for the attack. However, Perlich said a motive still hasn't been determined.

Perlich says no words were exchanged and no property was taken in the Monday night attack.

Other worshippers at the Islamic Association of North Texas scared the attackers off.

The attack came a day after two men were shot and killed in neighboring Garland after opening fire outside a provocative cartoon contest featuring images of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.
